The Company: PrimusLabs, a global leader in food safety for the fresh produce industry is in search of a Pickup Driver/Maintenance Technician to support our team in Lakeland, Florida. For nearly 35 years, PrimusLabs has been a trailblazer in all aspects of produce food safety, offering the most extensive range of microbiological and pesticide testing services available to agricultural and other food industries, domestically and abroad. We offer dynamic solutions from laboratory testing, field sampling, and supply chain management throughout the produce world.

We have an immediate full time opening for a safety-conscious, loyal, hardworking, skilled and reliable custodial technician to join our maintenance department. Training provided. Clean DMV record required. Responsibilities include great attention to detail in cleaning, maintaining the facility by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, taking out trash, cleaning windows, and disinfecting.

Secondly, perform pickups and shuttles on a daily basis per laboratory schedule. You must be able to work independently, manage your time well and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

Perform basic tasks including maintenance repairs, cleaning facility & grounds, and pick up samples from customer locations.

Perform basic repairs on company machinery, equipment or appliances.

Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.

Regularly check community spaces to identify issues with litter, mechanical failure or breakdowns.

Maintain the cleanliness of inside and outside spaces such as offices, restrooms, breakrooms, parking lots and sidewalks. Including but not limited to stocking restrooms, dumping trash, cleaning countertops, dusting, cleaning windows, wiping down carriers and ice blocks, etc.

Uses correct chemicals on all surfaces, fills all dispensers. Cleans spills promptly. Wax and buff floors on a regular basis.

Monitor inventory and supply areas.

Pickup samples from local and shuttle locations and transport back to the lab.

Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform basic vehicle inspections (tire pressure, fluid levels, etc.).

Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by lab management.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in office, laboratory environments, and off-site property. Employees may be exposed to noise from equipment in maintenance environment, and depending on indoor and outdoor conditions, exposure to cold and heat.

Pay range $15 - $17 an hour. Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Clean DMV record

2 years’ work experience, preferably in custodial or construction services.

High School Degree

Good verbal and written communication skills. Computer literacy.

Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and machinery

Integrity and ability to work independently

Ability to follow structured process and procedures, and to learn to use specialized departmental equipment.

Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from supervisors and co-workers.

Availability to work evenings and weekends if needed, flexibility of schedule changes, work duration and task assignments.

Ability to manage and accurately track material resources and time and adapt to changing work priorities.

Demonstrated organizational structure and problem-solving skills

Bilingual is a plus but not required

Physical Requirements: Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance .

Maneuvering in and around the worksite

Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching and stooping

Lift boxes or equipment weighing up to 35 + pounds

Push or pulling objects such as vacuums, carts, mops, etc.

Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery. May be required to push/pull equipment weighing up to 70 pounds.

Climb ladders and/or step stools

Drive short and long distances
